Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Katkut AI app and Katkut AI Pro subscription ("Service"), provided by Katkut ("we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
1. The Service
Katkut AI is a mobile app with two ways to make a reel. The Reel editor analyzes and assembles short video clips you select into a vertical (9:16) reel, entirely on your device. Studio Mode turns one talking-head video into a captioned short: it transcribes your speech, writes captions, and finds b-roll automatically, using the outside AI providers described in our Privacy Policy — assembly and export still happen on your device either way, and no other feature sends anything off it. The free tier includes a watermark on exported videos and limits on export length, count, and (for Studio Mode) monthly transcription minutes; Katkut AI Pro raises or removes these limits.
2. Your account
Signing in (via Google or Apple) is optional for the Reel editor but required for Studio Mode and to subscribe to Pro, since your subscription status and Studio's monthly transcription allowance are both tied to your account. You're responsible for keeping your account accessible and for all activity under it.
3. Subscriptions and billing
- Katkut AI Pro is $3.99/month, billed on a recurring monthly basis until cancelled.
- Subscriptions are purchased and managed through our website (not through the app's app store listing), processed by Stripe — except on iOS, where they're purchased through Apple's In-App Purchase system.
- Studio Mode's free and Pro tiers each include a monthly transcription-minutes allowance, shown in the app. Unused minutes don't roll over.
- You can cancel anytime; cancelling stops future renewals, but we don't provide partial refunds for the current billing period.
- If a renewal payment fails, we may suspend Pro features until payment succeeds or the subscription is cancelled.
4. Your content
Your clips, photos, and exported videos are yours. We don't claim any ownership over them. As described in our Privacy Policy, Reels are processed entirely on your device; Studio Mode sends only your video's audio track (for transcription) and the resulting transcript (for caption and b-roll planning) to the outside providers named there, and nothing else.
You're responsible for having the rights to any footage, audio, speech, or music you include in your reels, and for complying with the terms of whatever platform you post the finished reel to.
Stock footage and reaction GIFs in Studio exports. When you use Studio Mode's automatic b-roll, Katkut selects and downloads stock footage from Pexels and reaction GIFs or stickers from GIPHY into your exported video, under those providers' own terms. Pexels' library is licensed for commercial use; GIPHY's is user-uploaded and does not carry the same guarantee. If you intend to use a Studio export commercially, you're responsible for reviewing what b-roll and reaction content it contains — visible in the editor before you export — and removing anything you're not comfortable using.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use Katkut AI to process content you don't have the right to use, or in any way that violates applicable law.
6. AI-generated captions, translations and b-roll
Studio Mode's captions, translations, emoji placement, and b-roll choices are generated by automated speech recognition and AI models (see "Studio Mode and AI processing" in our Privacy Policy). Like any automated system, they can make mistakes — a mistranscribed word, a mistranslation, an emoji or cutaway that misreads the moment. Studio Mode's editor exists so you can review and fix all of it before exporting, and you're responsible for reviewing the finished video before you post it, especially where accuracy matters (names, numbers, quotes, or a translation into a language you don't personally read).
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is." We aim for Katkut's automatic cut selection and Studio Mode's automatic captions and b-roll to be genuinely useful, but we don't guarantee either will match your taste every time. Both are a starting point, meant to be reviewed and finished before you export and post.
8. Changes
We may update these terms or the Service over time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
