Most short-form video is one person talking to a camera. Making that watchable on a muted feed means captions; making it feel edited means cutaways; making it reach people means captions in the language they read. Each of those is tedious in a timeline editor, and together they are the reason so many good clips never get posted.
KatKut AI does that work automatically and then gets out of the way. Studio Editor transcribes your speech, writes word-timed captions in the language you spoke or translates them into another, cuts in matching stock footage, and opens the result in an editor where you can change anything before it is rendered. It stops short of being a full editor on purpose: music, voiceover and everything else you already do in CapCut, TikTok or Instagram stays there.

No language is the unusual one

Who builds it
KatKut AI is built and maintained by Sanjaya Bhattarai, an independent developer based in Helsinki, Finland. It began as a tool that turns a day of short clips into a reel, and grew Studio Editor around one conviction: captions should work as well for Nepali, Hindi or Bengali speech as they do for English. What is KatKut AI?
KatKut AI is an AI video editing app for iPhone and Android with two tools. Studio Editor takes one talking-head video and adds word-timed captions in any of 69 languages, optional translation, AI-picked B-roll, emoji and stickers, with a timeline editor for manual changes. Multi-Clip Reel takes many short clips and automatically selects, trims and sequences the best moments into a 9:16 vertical reel. Both export on your phone and save to your gallery.
Which tool should I use: Studio Editor or Multi-Clip Reel?
Use Studio Editor when you have one video of yourself speaking and want captions, translation or B-roll. Use Multi-Clip Reel when you have many short clips from a day, a trip or a shoot and want them cut into one reel. Both tools appear on the home screen and share the same drafts and exports list.
Do I need an account?
Not for Multi-Clip Reel, which works without signing in. Studio Editor needs a free account because its monthly minutes are tracked per account, and subscribing to Pro needs one for the same reason. Sign-in is with Apple or Google, depending on your device; we receive your name and email address (and, with Google, your profile photo), nothing more.
Is KatKut AI a replacement for CapCut or a full video editor?
No, and that is deliberate. KatKut AI produces a captioned, edited short (Studio) or a sequenced rough cut (Reel) and hands off. Music, voiceover and advanced effects are added afterwards in whichever app you already finish in, such as CapCut, TikTok or Instagram, using the share shortcuts on the export screen.
Multi-Clip Reel
How does Multi-Clip Reel decide which moments to keep?
It measures every clip on your phone for sharpness, exposure, motion and frozen frames, and audio energy, then keeps the sharpest, best-lit, steadiest segment from each and skips blurry, dark or shaky footage. The pacing style you choose (Balanced, Snappy, Relaxed, Auto, Food & Cooking, Travel & Adventure, Mini Vlog, or Unboxing & Style) shapes how those moments are cut together. You can trim, reorder, mute or remove clips afterwards.
What if some of my clips are landscape or square?
They are never cropped harshly and never given black bars. The original footage is centred and the empty space is filled with a blurred, enlarged copy of the same clip, so the output is always a clean 9:16 vertical video.
How many clips do I need, and how long can the reel be?
Four or more clips works best; many people use 20 to 40 short clips from a day. You choose a target length from under 30 seconds up to two minutes, and the tool fits the best material to it.
What happens to the original audio in a reel?
By default, Smart audio decides per clip: it keeps sound where it is part of the moment, such as talking, music or cheering, and mutes the rest. You can instead mute every clip up front for a voiceover, or keep every clip's sound. Each clip's mute can be changed in the editor.
Does Multi-Clip Reel upload my clips anywhere?
No. Analysis, selection, editing and export all run on your phone. No part of your footage is sent to a server. Studio Editor is different: it sends the audio track for transcription, which is explained on the Studio Editor FAQ and in the privacy policy.
Accounts and billing
How do I subscribe to Pro?
Open Settings in the app. On iPhone, Pro is an Apple in-app purchase billed to your Apple ID. On Android, Settings opens a secure web checkout that links the subscription to your KatKut account. Pro is $3.99 per month in the US; the App Store shows the local price for your country. Pro unlocks as soon as payment completes.
How do I cancel Pro?
On iPhone, cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, as with any App Store subscription. On Android, open Settings in the app and tap Manage or Cancel Subscription, which opens your subscription management page. Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro remains active until the end of the paid period.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings in the app and choose Delete Account. This removes your account information, including your Studio usage count. If you subscribed on iPhone, also cancel the subscription in Apple's Subscriptions settings; deleting the account does not cancel an Apple subscription. You can also email us to request deletion.
What phones does KatKut AI support?
iPhone running iOS 16.4 or later, from the App Store, and Android phones from Google Play. Export uses your phone's hardware video encoder, so it works on mid-range devices, not only flagships.
